Thanks for popping by and aimlessly wandering amongst our pages, hopefully picking up sensible titbits and useful info that you can completely relate to and that has you feeling a little less stressed and guilty and a little more like yourself.
Because we have to, here is all the Legal Guff about privacy and security, the disclaimer and all the rest of it.
Real Mums is intended to provide a safe place for Aussie mums to rant, rave, rebel and get stuff off their chests, as well as provide pragmatic information, in the form of articles, blog posts and downloads, which take into account the most common of every day lives, to dissect parenting research and other information to help you understand it better, and to help make your lives easier.
It is highly likely you will find amongst the content things like profanity, real life experiences and circumstances, open discussion about issues relating to mental health, physical health, abuse, diseases and all manner of topics you may find confronting.
You may also experience what we refer to as “reality checks” which can be confronting and cause you to think about your viewpoint, perspective and possible the way you behave, act, react or otherwise respond to a certain situation. Your beliefs and values may be challenged and this is all for the benefit of your health and wellbeing.
No offence, intent to harm or offend or to cause you discomfort is intended. It is merely a place where others can express themselves as they feel fit to aid them in their own health and wellbeing, and their own lives.
Having said that, Real Mums Pty Ltd do not and will not accept any content that promotes:
- racism, sexism or any other intolerable -ism
- excessive drinking
- excessive gambling
- diets, dietary supplements or other food supplementation
- any other topic, item or product we feel is to the detriment of of Australian mums and their families and communities
Aside from the Retell Therapy forums, which are mostly free to anyone to participate in, and are moderated daily, other content may be contributed via the means of guest bloggers or article writers, guest, subscriber or Member contribution or via other means.

Guest bloggers and article writers may or may not hold relevant qualifications or experience, and may be considered experts in their field, and participants on the Retell Therapy forums and those whom comment on the blogs and articles do not claim to hold any such qualifications, experience or status.

Although highly moderated, we value the vastly different opinions and experiences of others. Unless we feel a post or other content is insulting, defamatory, inflammatory, judgemental, condemnatory, non-supportive or critical, we encourage discussion and debate. So long as it’s kept nice, on topic and non-personal, it will probably remain. Someone having a different opinion is not, to a large degree, insulting or defamatory.
We pride ourselves on accepting everyone for themselves; this includes their beliefs and values.
Privacy & Security
Given the nature of the site, and in order to provide others with near-immediate access as has proven in the past to be necessary, we do not moderate new users upon initial registration. There are means and safeguards in place to deter spammers and bots, and we do our utmost to keep the site and its forums updated to ensure the highest level of security.
Upon registration, your email address is collected. Those choosing to sign up as a Member are required to do so, utilising PayPal as the subscription manager and to provide their full contact details, including full name, postal address, phone numbers and email address.
The purchase of products and downloads is also done through PayPal.
The information collected is used only to contact you in relation to the goings on of the website, forums and other goings on; both fun and administrative. Should you have chosen to be notified of forum comments and other activity on the forums, you will be notified of any activity. You are free to change your settings at any time.
When you register on the site, you will be automatically added to our monthly(ish) eNewsletter – Reality Parenting. You may unsubscribe from this at any time (but you may miss out on some awesomely cool stuff!)
You also have the option of subscribing to the eNewsletter yourself, or to receive updates whenever new content is added to the site. Again you may unsubscribe at any time.
Whilst we do our best to ensure suitable links out, we cannot guarantee the quality of the content of websites you may link through to, nor of their level of safety or security. This includes advertising banners and other adverts, links in articles and blog posts, and those links posted by others within the forums and in the comments sections of articles and blog posts.
We advise you exercise extreme caution, particularly in the latter two cases.
Please also be aware of any information or images, or any other content you post within the forums or comments section, and how much information you are sharing. It is, after all, the internet and, to a degree, we have bugger all control, such is the vastly changing nature of it all.
Just be careful about who and what you take on, what links you visit and what you’re putting out there, yeah? Ta.
