There’re now only thirty seven days until I leave for my Great (in)SANE Inspired Adventure.
On the one hand, the wait it torturous.
On the other, I’m grateful for the time I still have left to train for said Adventure.
If you’ve been following along on Instagram, specifically the #MadCowSANETrain hashtag, you’ll see some of the mischief I’ve been up to in order to ensure my fitness levels achieve some semblance of adequate for the trip. I hope so.
I did, last month, receive the highly acclaimed Inspired Adventurers Adventurer of the Month. That was just a little bit awesome.
Although still working on the physical element of the Great Wall for SANE Trek, I am pleased to have not only surpassed the minimum fundraising amount, I have also achieved my goal of $5000, all of which goes directly to SANE Australia to do all the wonderful things that SANE Australia do.
Things like …
- Providing a manned (personned?) helpline and chat to be there for those who need help and support
- Creation and distribution of guides and fact sheets to inform and support those with mental health issue
- Supporting the families, friends, and workplaces of those with mental illness
… because mental illness isn’t something that affects only the person with the illness. It can be hard for a lot of people, and the supporters need support, too.
I’d, personally, like to thank every single one of you who has supported me to this point ( you can’t stop yet … there’s 37 days before I go, then there’s the 11 days I’ll be away and trekking …).
I’d really particularly like to send massively huge thanks to Michelle K and Brigid for being my/SANE’s biggest supporters for this particular adventure, and to the fabulous:
- Nerida from Admin Bandit
- Ines from Handmade by GC
- Kate from Time Stylers
- Rich from REDD Group and The Village Voice, and
- Jacqui from Rainbow Designs
Support these lot in appreciation for their support of SANE and me; that’d be super awesome. They deserve it.
If I’m really honest at this point, I can tell you that there are days when training is hard; I’m too tired, it’s too cold, I’m too busy, I forgot to get something out for dinner, I saw a spider in the house yesterday and I’m not sure I should go training today in case it comes back or crawls into the Special K and I don’t see it … what if we’re out of milk for my coffee … I’ve entertained plenty of excuses … and if it weren’t for the support I’ve received from you, I may well have given in to some of them.
Your donations and words of encouragement have given me the boost I’ve needed at times. So for that, I also thank you.
Although still 37 days until I leave, there’s still another week in which you can donate to SANE Australia as part of my Great Wall for SANE trek … if you haven’t done so yet, you can do so now, by donating here.
All funds go to SANE Australia to support them and the work they do to support people with mental illness, their families, and others around them.
